Jamie's Meeting June 02, 2020 (12:58 PM) Jamie Matczak: We will start in a few minutes. (12:58 PM) Jamie Matczak: Sorry, no muzak today. :) (1:00 PM) Loralee: Can we have Bailey run the meeting today? (1:00 PM) Rhinelander Library: That's ok. Youngest was playing nostalig themes from her fav tv shows. It was a walk through preschool. (1:01 PM) Dominic: Bailey and I have something in common. :) LOL (1:01 PM) Dominic: don't wanna run the meeting (1:02 PM) Loralee: Forget the meeting. She can lead nap time. (1:06 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: take my kids to some outdoor city pools......but can it even happen? (1:08 PM) Brandon: Working on a "Welcome Back To The Library" escape room for our patrons (1:08 PM) Brandon: I'm typing (1:09 PM) Loralee: I just want to make it through summer reading!!! (1:10 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: chlorine bleach would sanitize us all wouldn't it? (1:11 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: lets all jump in....back in march (1:13 PM) Greenwood Library: I want to do fun things like fish and bike, I NEED to get my retaining wall removed. (1:17 PM) Peggy O'Connell: I think it was Indeed Jamie (1:17 PM) Loralee: We are hesistant to open our computer lab even after we open the building. It's small and closed in. I'm considering buying 1-2 chromebooks for people to use. Any thoughts? (1:22 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: I think our role would be as a resource and referral because the job center is right across the street (1:23 PM) Anne Hamland: Curbside Printing: Thorp (1:24 PM) Anne Hamland: Curbside/Appointment Faxing (1:25 PM) Anne Hamland: Job Center of Wisconsin has a guide on what to include in a resume and formatting examples (1:26 PM) Brandon: There has been some request for curbside printing (1:30 PM) Greenwood Library: Clark Co job center is incredibly helpful. They help with resumes, too. I encourage that resource as I don't know the current preferred resume formats, etc. DIdn't know there was a wvls resume helper video. Do a lot of people go to WVLS libraries for job searching? We rarely see it, they seem to prefer games to work. (1:32 PM) Tomahawk: For the libraries that are open with computers, how do you help the patrons who need the computer but are technologically illiterate and need a lot of help? (1:33 PM) Loralee: What I see most is people who want to fill out online applications. Sometimes a problem b/c they mainly use a smartphone and are out of practice with a computer. (1:33 PM) Dominic: we wear masks and have them do all the touching. it takes a lot longer. (1:33 PM) Peggy O'Connell: In Minocqua we have 2 new kwik trips and we get a lot of people applying for jobs there. (1:33 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: those that have come in for computers so far the last two days did not need help. (1:35 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: I have no idea what they were doing.....I don't get close enough and there are privacy issues....if they asked for help, I would just do my best (1:35 PM) Loralee: Often younger people, like 30's. (1:35 PM) Jenny J: I've seen take too. Only device they have is smartphone. (1:36 PM) Jenny J: For me the Hispanic population (1:37 PM) Rhinelander Library: were not open yet. But the job cdnter in town seems to be as busy as they can be. (1:38 PM) Rhinelander Library: once open computer use will be by appointment with job seekers a priority. (1:39 PM) Rhinelander Library: Sorry--the cat in the household very vocal. Don't really think you want to hear him sing (1:43 PM) Rhinelander Library: RDL got a nice donation in thanks of opening curbside (1:43 PM) Tomahawk: How many people are coming in to the libraries that are open? (1:44 PM) Jenny J: 30 yesterday (1:44 PM) Anne Hamland: Beautiful, Teresa! (1:44 PM) Peggy O'Connell: Are libraries allowing people to come in and sit with their laptop or are or just encouraging grab and go, no hanging out. (1:44 PM) Brandon: nice! (1:45 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: going well here. We had a steady flow on our first days. Monday was about 25 people! Today we are at about 15 so far. Sanitizing throughout the day went well (1:45 PM) Brandon: 30! (1:45 PM) Brandon: echoing 30 (1:45 PM) Greenwood Library: We had about 25 in between 1-6p; plus curbside (1:45 PM) Dominic: it's been steady. people are being cautious. most are wearing masks and people are happy to be able to come in. they are getting what they need and leaving. It's kinda sad, as it's against what we would normally want (1:45 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: sure they can sit for half hour...we will sanitize behind them (1:45 PM) Rhinelander Library: When RDL opens, we will have very little seating. (1:46 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: we took seating out to make 6 ft distance (1:47 PM) Loyal Library: Probably about 30 people in. We limit everyone's visit to 30 minutes. (1:47 PM) Dominic: we have an hour (1:47 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: yes once they leave an area (1:47 PM) Dominic: no one is asking for extensions though. there is 56ft between tables (1:47 PM) Anne Hamland: hang in there friends! (1:48 PM) Loyal Library: Jenny, that's why we kept our curbside to just the days we are open - Mon Wed Fri. (1:50 PM) Granton Library: I have my board meeting tonight to set up opening (1:50 PM) Demmer Library: We've had to keep the lights off/down in the library to convince people we're not open (1:50 PM) Anne Hamland: headlamps everyone! (1:50 PM) Jenny J: same, working in the dark on off days. (1:51 PM) Loyal Library: we do the same thing - lights off except over our desk when we are closed (1:51 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: how little people read signs!! (1:51 PM) Tomahawk: so true (1:52 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: not "little people" but how not often people read signs (1:52 PM) Loyal Library: even though they are neon (1:52 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: but we are here for literacy....so it's at lease good practice (1:54 PM) Jenny J: bye
