Jamie's Meeting May 26, 2020 (12:52 PM) Jamie Matczak: Good Agternoon! We'll start at 1 pm (12:52 PM) Jamie Matczak: Now playing: Anyting Can Happen by The Script (12:56 PM) Jamie Matczak: Now playing: You Give Me Something by James Morrison. (12:57 PM) Anne Hamland: is that a real plant!? (12:58 PM) Brandon: i can hear you (12:58 PM) Jamie Matczak: yes! (12:58 PM) Jamie Matczak: the other one is fake (12:59 PM) Jamie Matczak: My parents gave me that plants when I started library work 14 years ago. (12:59 PM) Jamie Matczak: 😊 (12:59 PM) Anne Hamland: WHOA (12:59 PM) Jamie Matczak: I know!! I can't believe I didn't manage to kill it (12:59 PM) Anne Hamland: it'd be dead here. (1:00 PM) Greenwood Library: When I die, I want to return as a well-loved dog. (1:00 PM) Anne Hamland: that has a cushy bed (1:00 PM) Loralee: I want to curl up and nap with Bailey. (1:03 PM) Anne Hamland: toggle! (1:04 PM) Demmer Library: I'm helping a patron - if you come to me and I don't answer please skip. (1:04 PM) Anne Hamland: Also remember to update your website! (1:04 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: who needs our update status level? Do I email Katie? (1:04 PM) Anne Hamland: help@librarieswin.org (1:04 PM) Anne Hamland: send in a quick help ticket please. (1:05 PM) Katie Zimmermann: Yes. Please send an email. Thanks! (1:05 PM) Marla: Yes, LD&L would like to hear what communities are saying about library services. (1:06 PM) Loralee: This weekend, I had dreams about coming to work and finding the library full of people with armloads of things to check out. No one was wearing facemasks and they refused to leave. (1:07 PM) Brandon: Go back in time and talk more with my great grandpa, he passed away when I was 13. (1:08 PM) Gilman Staff: Back in time to see how my ancestors lived. (1:08 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: Yes I agree, go back in time and chat with grandparents with questions I have now (1:08 PM) Anne Kuipers: I've been having sound issues lately. Either way asking a history major is dangerous. I'd love to spend time with my Grandparents I lost them when I was very young. (1:10 PM) Minocqua Library: Go back in time and pay more attention to the little things my kids did and said. (1:11 PM) Dominic: I think I'm with Peggy. (1:11 PM) Stephanie: Dominic...you have kids?! (1:11 PM) Dominic: just one. (1:11 PM) Granton Library: can't really think of anything- maybe seeing the Statue of Liberty being built (1:12 PM) Dominic: also make smarter choices (1:14 PM) Rhinelander Library: I have to go let in a contractor. HVAC isn't working in the building Yea! (1:14 PM) Loralee: My first thought was that I would either go forward to when a book I've been waiting for would be published or back to when I book I love was first available. I think it is not a coincidence that I ened up in library work. (1:14 PM) Loralee: I hope so!!! (1:16 PM) Anne Hamland: Recording this segment? (1:17 PM) Anne Hamland: as fast as I can! (1:18 PM) Rhinelander Library: back (1:20 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: I think people are looking forward to us opening. However, some have said they don't want to wear masks. As I understand it is recommended but we can't require it. Our only good response is to point back to board decision and protocol. Support: continued guidelines as they come about by DPI and others (1:21 PM) Vicky: I bought masks from Menards as per Jamie's resource page last week. (1:22 PM) Marla: ○ Shannon: If the library board wants to add a policy that masks are required and there is ample signage, that would be a local decision. It’s a good idea to discuss it with the municipality. Among policies I have seen in my research, it is common that masks are strongly recommended or required, unless under age two or have medical condition with which you cannot wear a mask. (1:22 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: upport I could also use (1:23 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: Support I could also use some catch phrases for those that might come back and say: "If your library has been closed for this long and we lived without it for this time, then what's the purpose of re-opening" (1:24 PM) Anne Hamland: patron behavior policies? (1:25 PM) Dominic: my first response is too snarky Janay. (1:25 PM) Loyal Library: Loralee just messaged and said that a storm just hit Owen. Took out the power and internet. (1:27 PM) Anne Kuipers: most everyone who comes in through curbside has been very happy on that. I had one person thank me for being thoughtful and careful. We have some impatience and people who really want us open. Face mask wise we are only requesting. (1:27 PM) Dominic: jamie did you mute yourself? (1:28 PM) Dominic: yes. (1:28 PM) Vicky: We're wearing masks to keep you safe...you can choose to keep our staff safe. (1:29 PM) Demmer Library: Oh, also who are anxious about us reopening are really surprised when I say I need time to train staff. They're shocked at that. :-O (1:30 PM) Gilman Staff: Leaving it as their choice. Will provide masks as long as we have them available to us. (1:37 PM) Dominic: doncha know we "just read books all day" how hard can having an open library be? (1:37 PM) Dominic: lol (1:38 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: haha Dominic! (1:38 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: I do want to just read books all day (1:38 PM) Greenwood Library: Not advertised opening yet, will post on site and FB today. . Using signage from a poster Teresa@Loyal shared regarding masks- takes the political mess out of it. I don't want to wear a mask all day-not healthy. Shield likely. (1:40 PM) Demmer Library: Yay, Teresa! Staff were complaining about how anxious they get picking books out for people. Great to get positive feedback! And good work on being #maskstrong (1:40 PM) Granton Library: well said Teresa (1:41 PM) Minocqua Library: please do Teresa (1:44 PM) Stephanie: Peggy, where did you buy the shields? They seem very feasible. (1:44 PM) Dominic: i'm waiting for my face shields to arrive still. ordered from 2 different suppliers. (1:44 PM) Demmer Library: Face shields unfortunately don't do the same thing as a mask. That just protects your eyes. It doesn't do anything about the exhaled droplets. (1:45 PM) Vicky: All Metal Stamping in Abby sells them in lots of 25. $5 each (1:45 PM) Dominic: like safety glasses? pics please? (1:45 PM) Demmer Library: That's just my understanding. (1:46 PM) Jamie Matczak: Vicky, is this for the shields? (1:46 PM) Joshua - WVLS: P.S. - The 3-Layer faces masks, and the shields are sorted and in courier bins at Wausau waiting for pickup (today maybe). (1:46 PM) Minocqua Library: Our town ordered them but I can ask Stephanie. (1:48 PM) Demmer Library: Virginia - I love your NOLA friend's sign that you shared (Mardi Gras masks are a completely different beast, but at least they're used to the idea down there) (1:49 PM) Joshua - WVLS: There seem to be more options opening up as big distributors and wholesale networks are positioning for distributions. Typical supply vendors may already or soon have decent products. For now, the one trusted vendor that I'm aware of that has what seems to be a vetted, reasonable supply is Cables & Kits (CK) https://www.cablesandkits.com/c/safety-supplies (1:50 PM) Vicky: Plastic face shields from All Metal Stamping (1:51 PM) Joshua - WVLS: Our initial nominal batch order for about 9 or 10 libraries was from there. Their supply seems to be fairly stable, though gloves came and went in just a couple days. Going forward, libraries can procure from here directly or any other source that they find and trust. (1:52 PM) Anne Hamland: flip the sign to “please wait until someone exits” (1:53 PM) Vicky: Those slide comments at the beginning were from Colby. (1:53 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: Stephanie, I would like the template for your flip sign for patron capacity (1:54 PM) Stephanie: Sure! I'll send it to you Janay! (1:54 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: Thanks! (1:54 PM) Anne Hamland: @steph, did you make it in canva? (1:54 PM) Stephanie: I did! (1:54 PM) Granton Library: can you share with me too Step (1:54 PM) Minocqua Library: I would like that as well Stephanie (1:54 PM) Anne Hamland: You could send out a link as a "Shre" (1:54 PM) Anne Hamland: Share* (1:54 PM) Janay 608-548-5204: Great! (1:54 PM) Gilman Staff: Yes, Please, me too! (1:55 PM) Anne Hamland: woop! we'll make a copy first so the link can be used as a template for everyone (1:55 PM) Anne Hamland: and the master will be safe:) (1:55 PM) Demmer Library: We're planning on having 10 "things" (pieces of paper with numbers on them most likely) and a patron entering would take one. When they're gone, nobody can come in until patron has returned the "thing." (2:00 PM) Jamie Matczak: help@librarieswin.org
