The Brigham Memorial Library is accepting applications for a friendly, service oriented library director. This is a full time position with benefits, and would be ideal for an individual interested in making a tangible positive impact in the lives of community residents.
The Village of Sharon is a picturesque small town situated on the Wisconsin-Illinois border. The village has a population of 1,604 and a service population of approximately 2,500. There are endless opportunities for developing truly unique library services to suit the needs of year-round and seasonal residents. The Village of Sharon is roughly one hour from Milwaukee, one hour from Madison, thirty minutes from Lake Geneva, and twenty minutes from Beloit.
The ideal candidate will be able to develop and implement programs for community patrons, develop the collection, and engage in short-term and long-term planning. The ideal candidate must also be able to create and manage library budgets, train and manage a small staff, and work effectively with the library and village boards. Proficiency with library-related and other technologies is critical.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in library science or should have completed 54 undergraduate credits at an accredited university. The applicants must have, or be able to qualify for, a Grade III Wisconsin Public Library Certification.
Recently (or soon-to-be) graduated MLIS students with an interest in gaining multi-faceted library director experience are encouraged to apply.
