The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) is working on a new campaign that will help you promote all the terrific things Children’s Librarians do to those who hold public office.

Their goal is to create a Championing Children’s Services Virtual Toolkit to help youth services staff across the United States advance their message to elected officials and garner support for the critical work libraries do in their communities.

A Library Champion Lives Here

Why is this important? Because youth services success stories can be a powerful illustration of library value in a community!

In order to produce the most useful end product, your feedback is needed. It will only take a few minutes to fill out the survey and as an added incentive you could win a $25 gift certificate for Out of Print Clothing!
(Have you heard about Out of Print Clothing?? Check it out! WOW – cool stuff!)

OK – pull yourself away from the reading themed socks, mugs and t-shirts and back to the SURVEY!

STEP ONE: Go to the ALSC BLOG page for this initiative.

STEP TWO: Take the Championing Children’s Services Survey by Friday, December 1.

FYI, these are the questions asked:
1. Where do your library championing conversations take place? (multiple choice)
2. What is your biggest barrier to promoting your library to elected officials? (multiple choice)
3. List the top 3 things you wish others knew about children’s librarianship? (fill in the blanks)
4. Tell us a little more about your library’s demographics (check boxes for size and location)
5. Did you have any other comments that could help shape this project? (comment box)
6. Provide contact information (Name, email) to give the ALSC Public Awareness Committee permission to email you if they have a follow up questions.

STEP THREE: Go back to the ALSC BLOG page for this initiative and scroll down to the comments section. Enter your name and email (which will not be published). Type in “I took the Championing Children’s Services Survey after being referred by Wisconsin Valley Library Service.”

STEP FOUR: Book mark the Blog Page and check back on Saturday, December 2 to see if you are the winner!
