The Center for Railroad Photography & Art is seeking a new full-time Archives Manager.
The Archives Manager oversees more than 200,000 photographs in the Center’s Railroad
Heritage Visual Archive. As a vital team member of the Center, the Archives Manager will also assist the Executive Director in day-to-day office assignments while providing
supervision to several graduate student interns and volunteers. The Archives Manager will also create writing materials, manage social media content, and act as a liaison with the Center’s archival partner, Lake Forest College, and any other interested parties.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Treat all current and new collections with proper archival procedures
o Description and arrangement
o Processing and digitizing
o Metadata entry and creating finding aids
o Accessibility including a strong social media presence
• Supervise graduate student interns and volunteers
• Various administrative tasks as required, including:
o Maintaining membership records
o Preparing mailings
o Running errands (post office, storage facility, etc.)
